Letter from the Chairman

Dear Fellow JCI Senators,

Warm greetings from Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA – I hope that all is well with each of you!

We are half way through the 2008 year, but it is not too early to realize that next year will be important in the JCI Schedule. The World will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the opening of over 25 “new” nations to the rest of the world, symbolized in our organization by the extension of JCI into many of these countries. The European Conference next year will be held in Budapest, Hungary, a NOM started in 1989.

Of equal importance to JCI Senators, 2009 will mark the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Association of JCI Senators in Europe (ASE). This important event will also be celebrated in Budapest from the 10th to the 14th of June, 2009. The Budapest Organizing Committee is working hard to prepare an outstanding pre-tour and Conference experience for all JCI Senators.

By the way, you don’t have to be a European Senator to participate in this special event. The ASE looks forward to welcoming JCI Senators from all over the world to help in this historic celebration. I know I plan to be there, and I encourage all JCI Senators from all around the world to join me, the ASE, and JCI as we observe these two important anniversaries.
